Finding Eden Chapel
Eden Chapel is located on the corner of Fitzroy Street and
Fair Street, (near the
Grafton Centre)
and a 3 minute walk from the city centre across Christ's Pieces.
You can also find Eden on
Google Maps or
Multimap.
Arriving by bicycle
There is plenty of cycle parking outside the chapel, though it is usually full during Sunday services!
Arriving by rail
From Cambridge rail station, take either the Citi 1, Citi 3 or Citi 7 bus services to Emmanuel Street (journey time 10 minutes), from where you can walk across Christ's Pieces to the chapel. Alternatively there are usually plenty of taxis available at the station.
Arriving by bus
Most long distance bus services terminate or call at Drummer Street bus station, which is just a short walk across Christ's Pieces to the chapel.
Arriving by car - Park and Ride services
Cambridge is a very old city and was not designed with the motor car in mind! The city centre can be very congested, and car parking can be very expensive. This is especially true during the day time Monday to Saturday, so if visiting then we strongly recommend that you use the extensive Park and Ride services, which operate from five points on the outskirts of the city, as shown here. All Park and Ride services now run on Sundays - for timetables, see click the links for the individual services below. To reach Eden:
- From the Milton
and
Newmarket Road
services, get off at The Grafton stop. Enter the shopping centre and turn left, exit the automatic doors at the far end into Fitzroy Street. Eden is on the right at the far end of this street.
- From the
Madingley Road
and Babraham Road
services, get off at Drummer Street and walk across Christ's Pieces to the chapel.
- From the
Trumpington
service, get off in St. Andrew's Street, walk round the corner into Emmanuel Street and proceed as above.
Arriving by car - city centre parking information
If you do choose to come into the city centre by car, the closest car park to Eden is the Grafton West, which is accessed from Maids Causeway. You can reach the chapel by the pedestrian exits at the opposite end of the car park from the vehicle entrances. Parking is expensive, especially for periods of more than two hours during the day time on Monday to Saturday. Somewhat less expensive parking can be found at the Queen Anne Terrace long term car park (off Gonville Place), which is 10-15 minutes walk from the chapel. In both cases, Sunday parking is somewhat cheaper, and evenings more so.
Note that there are numerous restrictions on where you can drive in the city centre. Restrictions to note in the vicinity of Eden:
- Emmanuel Street is closed to private motor vehicles
- Emmanuel Road is cut off half-way down by rising bollards which only allow buses and taxis through
- Fitzroy Street and Burleigh Street are pedestrianised, no motor vehicles at any time, and no cycling 10am-4pm Monday to Saturday.
