At the QBM on 27th June it was agreed to appoint Marvin Wong as Pastoral Assistant for a year from September. Marvin will do some preaching and be involved in all aspects of church life, with particular responsibility for student work and evangelism.
It was also agreed to reappoint Stephen Childs as Church Assistant for a further year. Stephen has served since Christmas and has made a great contribution towards the life of the church, particularly with the music group and the student ministry. So far there are no other candidates for Church Assistant; Julian encouraged suggestions from the congregation.
Neil Thomson brought the financial report. The current giving is falling some way short of budget. Neil thanked those who have recently reviewed their gift aid/standing order giving and encouraged others to do likewise if appropriate.
Neil also reported that the collection for Mike and Vi Webb to enable them to visit Vi's elderly mother in Canada and their daughter and son-in-law in Australia had raised a significant sum.
Peter and Kathryn Williams are to move to Aberdeen in the autumn. Julian expressed gratitude for all their contributions to life at Eden, and particularly Pete's service as an elder. Julian invited suggestions to him of anyone who would make a suitable elder. Nominations for new deacons were also invited.
